Privacy Policy

This policy explains what LegalQuill ("we", "us") collects when you use legalquill.org, request a quote, chat with our team, or order a document, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect what we need to prepare your quote and your document, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.

Information you give us

• Quote requests: your name, email address, phone number if you choose to give it, your state, the document you are interested in, how urgent it is, and the description of your situation.
• Chat: your email address, your name if you give it, and the messages you send.
• Orders: the details needed to draft your document, which can include information about family members, property, and finances that you choose to share with us.
• Payments: card payments are processed by Stripe through our payment partner Lunastric. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and its amount. We never see or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically

• Page and event records: which pages are viewed, the website that referred you, and actions such as clicking a quote button, starting the quote form, or opening the chat. These records do not include your name or email address.
• Browser storage: we keep a few small values in your browser (the first page you visited and the site that referred you, which page you came from before the quote form, whether you have seen the chat prompt, and your chat conversation ID) so we can connect a request to how you found us and keep your chat open across pages. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers.
• Calculators: the numbers you enter in our free calculators are processed in your browser. We record only that a result was shown, not your figures.
• Server logs: our hosting provider processes technical data such as IP addresses and browser type to deliver and secure the site.

How we use it

• To review your situation, send your quote, and draft and deliver your document
• To answer your chat messages and emails
• To process payments, send receipts, and handle refunds
• To understand which pages and features help people, and improve them
• To comply with legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing or for targeted advertising.

Who processes it for us

We use a small number of service providers, each only for the service it performs:

• Vercel (website hosting)
• Supabase (secure database for quotes, chats, and orders)
• Resend (sending email)
• Stripe, through Lunastric (card payments)
• Cloudflare (domain and email forwarding)

The licensed attorneys who draft and review your document receive the information needed to prepare it. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep quote, chat, and order records for as long as needed to serve you and to answer questions about documents we prepared. Payment and transaction records are kept for up to seven years for tax and legal compliance. When you ask us to delete your information, we do so unless the law requires us to keep it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing support@legalquill.org. We respond within 30 days. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws have these rights under those laws, and we honor them for everyone. We will not treat you differently for exercising them.

Security

Information is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access limited to the people who need it to serve you. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send documents or information we have not asked for.

Children

Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes apply only to information collected after they take effect.
